Sardinia at this time of year was the perfect respite for the chilly autumn- and as ever, backdrops like the stunning emerald beaches provided us with the visual stimulation and inspiration we are always craving. The seclusion this time year made us feel like we were being let in a little secret- we had the beaches and scenic roads to ourselves. One week is definitely not enough to scour the island- and you’ve never really had a lemon sorbet until you’ve had it in Sardinia!

We arrived at Olbia and then drove down the Costa Esmeralda to arrive at Spiaggia di Cala Li Cossi - a 15 minute beautiful coastal walk through a few ascents and descents - the beach is surrounded by a natural space of granite rocks.

From there, we drove through various towns until arriving at Porto Rafael, a small resort anchored in the motto “Sognare e Vivire : Live and Dream. Love. This beautiful secluded spot was perfect to fawn over the sunset.

We then drove to Alghero on the Northwest coast,  enjoying the views of Caccia and walking the steps of Escala di Cabirol to Neptune’s Cave.

We also spent a day in Alghero cycling the city and surrounding beaches and coves, settling for Spiaggia del Lazzaretto and then enjoying dinner in the city in a lovely jazz venue.

Highly recommend driving down to the uber charming Bosa - amazing scenic views on the way and the town is super charming with its maze of alleyways and colourful houses. From Bosa,   we travelled through the province of Nuoro, staying in a farm for the rest of our stay and visiting the spring Sorgente Su Gologone - if you can manage to stay at Su Gologone Experience Hotel, would highly recommend! Cap it off at Cala Gonone (don’t miss Cala Luna)!
